Development
An Investment in Children...
St. James School relies heavily on the time, talent and financial contributions of its past and present community members. Tuition and fees finance 78% of the actual costs of educating our children. Contributions from our community members are used to bridge the gap between the tuition and the operating budget, as well as to finance capital improvements, increase financial aid, enhance technology, improve curriculum, and support salary increases for our outstanding faculty and staff.
Our current development efforts include Home and School Association Fundraisers, the St. James School Annual Fund and the Third Millennium Endowment Fund. Every gift matters and is greatly appreciated! 100% participation is our goal! Please help support Catholic
Education at St. James.
Ways to Help:
- Home and School Association Fundraisers and Services
H&S donates revenues generated through various fundraising projects. In 2004, H&S donated $40,000 towards the operating budget for our school.
H&S also provides funding for several special projects each year. Projects for 2003-2004 are:
- Monetary Christmas gifts for the teachers and staff to show support and appreciation;
- Funds to help defray the costs for staff development in Columbus, GA;
- The start of an Environmental Club (the first project will be a garden beautification);
- An addition of three permanent tether balls to the playground;
- An enhancement of the science lab's equipment and supplies;
H&S organizes volunteers for many school programs:
- Communication envelopes,
- Meals to support families in difficult times,
- Receptions for the Principal’s meeting, for Confirmation Candidates and a Teacher Appreciation Luncheon
H&S accepts donations towards projects and items from the SJS Wish List. In 2003-2004, H&S received donations towards:
- A laminator with supplies for the teachers
- Co-sponsor the Journey Back in Time Pioneer Living Museum to our school
For more information on ways to contribute your time, talents or treasures visit the Home & School Association web-page.
- St. James School Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is an ongoing fundraising effort. The proceeds are applied directly to the operating budget.
Annual Fund contributions of nearly $50,000 in 2002 - 2003 allowed us to:
- Install a new security system for the safety of our children
- Bolster our Financial Aid Fund - to help insure that no Catholic child in the parish is denied a catholic education
- Purchase new computers for our computer lab
- Set aside funds to establish the Third Millennium Endowment Fund
To donate to the Annual Fund for this year, please write a check to "SJCS Annual Fund".
- Third Millennium Endowment Fund
While our H&S Fundraising and the Annual Fund are vital to meeting the operating budget of our school each year, the Third Millennium Endowment Fund addresses the long-term financial needs of our school. An endowment fund is a fund intended to exist for the life of the school providing a steady source of income year after year. The principal of the fund remains invested. The annual earnings are used to benefit the educational needs of our school.
The Third Millennium Fund is a plan for the future!
Contributions to the Endowment can be in the forms of:
- Cash - the most standard and familiar way to give. Simply write a check to
"SJCS Third Millennium Endowment Fund".
- Other Assets - Such as Appreciated Property, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Life Insurance gifts or Life Estate gifts. These assets can be given currently or distributed as a part of an estate plan.
