ATTENTION: Upcoming First Grade Students for the 2006-2007 School Year
Dear Parents and Guardians of Upcoming SJS First Graders,
Attached is the
First Grade Reading Word list for you to study
with your child over the summer vacation. Helping your child to
recognize and read these words will build their confidence and
reading skills.
Also, if you’d like to further enrich and build upon your child’s academic skills, we’d like to recommend that you purchase the “Summer Bridge Activity” workbook, by Julia Ann Hobes (the Kindergarten to First Grade edition). It is an excellent resource to reinforce kindergarten skills and also introduces first grade math, reading, and language arts activities. This book may be purchased for $ 12.95 at Books-A-Million or The Teaching Tree. Both of these establishments have been asked to order extra copies to accommodate our students. It’s a wonderful way to have some fun and learning time over the summer months.
